FIRE SAFETY TRAINING
Fire extinguishers are a legal and important part of your fire safety. In workplaces most people should know where they are located by fire exits, and where the rallying point is in the event of an emergency. However, it’s even more important for staff to know how to identify fire risks and operate and properly manage a fire by using extinguishers if called upon.
After completion of an appropriate course your staff members or colleagues will be able to identify various fire types, understand their chemistry, and know how to tackle them properly and safely to prevent a fire becoming out of control.
- Fire legislation
- The basic chemistry of fire and its differing classes
- Fire fighting procedures
- Causes of fires and their prevention
- Emergency lighting
- Fixed fire fighting installations
- Evacuation assembly point and fire drills
- Fire alarms
- Fire hazards
- Routine fire safety inspections and maintaining a fire log
- Risk assessment awareness
- Extinguisher recognition and use

Fire Extinguisher Training of a practical nature is part of all the courses. As standard, There is a technique known as P-A-S-S that is a fundamental part of extinguisher training. All learners will view a live-fire demonstration we have filmed for the purposes of this course.
P-A-S-S Technique refers to the following
- P - Pull the pin. It is there to prevent accidental discharge.
- A - Aim low at the base of the fire. This is where the fuel source is.
- S - Squeeze the lever above the handle. Release to stop the flow. (Some extinguishers have a button instead of a lever)
- S - Sweep from side to side. Move toward the fire, aiming low at its base. Sweep until all flames are extinguished. Watch for re-igniting. Repeat as necessary. Have the site inspected by the fire department?
